Automating Research — Embedding Search Queries in Obsidian
I do a lot of research — both for work and for leisure. I love learning new things. Cataloging the information I’ve learned and writing about it are two of my favorite uses for Obsidian.
Even with the best of efforts though, sometimes things go “missing” in Obsidian. Perhaps one or more of these has happened to you:
- I didn’t give the note a clear and easy to find name
- I forgot to tag the note
- I miss tagged the note
- I misfiled the note These are just a few of the reasons a note might go “missing” in my vault.
Alternatively, I may be working on something and get struck with the idea of searching through my notes for another specific topic. As an example, I have been making a few notes as I make my way through TfTHacker’s beautiful new JournalCraft vault for Obsidian as I’d like to make a review video for the vault and perhaps publish an article about it. One of the ideas that struck me was to look for times in my own vault where I’ve used the word reflection. It’s not specific to journaling but there might be some other things I’ve written about relating to reflection that might also be good ideas for this review video.
