Choosing Your Automation Method — Let’s Automate Callouts in Obsidian
Welcome back to the August of Automation 2024 series. So far in this series, we’ve discussed the Automation Continuum, the importance of documentation, and introduced the Automator’s Toolbox. Today, we’re going to walk through two different ways of automating creating callouts in Obsidian. We’ll use this example to talk about choosing the best automation method for you.
A Basic Strategy for Choosing Your Automation Method
Once you’ve decided on something you want to automate, it’s time to get to work automating that thing. And you may very well come to a choice — there may be two or more perfectly good ways to automate something. You’ll have to decide which one works best for you. Keep in mind, there is no right way to automate something — there is only what’s right for you. The best automations are the ones you use most often, so pick a method that’s comfortable for you and that you’re experienced with.
Automation is also an iterative process. You may create an automation today and use it for days, weeks, months, or years and then find a more effective way to do the same task.
