Look Ahead to the New Year: Dreams & Intentions
This is the fifth article in my series on my annual planning ritual. The first step in that ritual is to choose a word for the year. Then, I like to spend some time documenting the year that was including updating my life timeline and creating a yearly summary.
Today, we’re moving from looking back to looking forward at the year ahead.
I draw a very hard line between the way I view my professional goals and how I think about this process. While I do have a document that I call my personal strategic plan — which I’ll talk a bit about in a later article in this series — my annual personal planning process is designed to be much more fun and free than the more formal strategic planning process. I will review this list against that personal strategic plan — but I start by giving myself the freedom to dream.
Dream About the Year Ahead
This part of my process picks up where we left off in the looking back. I go again to one well tested and one new to me but already loved tools.
