Making Notes Actionable with Readwise.io and Roam Research
My daily Readwise landed in my inbox at 8 a.m. this morning, as it does each and every morning. I normally hate daily emails — they are pushy and nagging. I’d prefer to develop parts of my daily workflow into habits that I agree to take on, without the nagging reminder. However, the daily Readwise almost always puts a smile on my face.
If you’re unfamiliar with Readwise.io, it’s a service that aggregates your highlights and notes from places like Medium, Kindle, Instapaper, iBooks, Pocket, etc. Those highlights and notes are stored in the Readwise.io system which you can easily scroll through. You also have the option of getting your highlights served back up to you in a form of spaced repetition through the daily Readwise.
Earlier this week, I got access to the integration between Readwise and Roam Research. Roam is a “note-taking application for networked thought” that launched in 2019 and has quickly become a competitor to other notetaking tools like Evernote, Notion, OneNote, and Workflowy. As an absolute tech nerd, I’ve tried all of them and still use Evernote and Notion for some parts of my workflow.
