Multi-Layer Planning with Obsidian — The How
This article is the practical how-to companion to my earlier article on what multi-layer planning is and why you might want to do it in Obsidian. In this article I’ll walk you through how to install the three plug-ins you need to make this work and then provide access to all the templates and text expander snippets both as code you can copy and as a downloadable starter vault.
I haven’t yet made a video to accompany this post and I don’t want to delay this post. Let me know in comments if you’d like to see a video walking through this.
Get the Starter Vault

Installing the Plugins
You first need to install four free community plugins in Obsidian. Those are Templater, Calendar, Dataview, and Periodic Notes. If you already have these installed, skip ahead to the next section.
