The Automator’s Toolbox
Welcome back to the first ever August of Automation! You can check out the whole series starting with the first essay here.
Today I want to dig into the Automator’s Toolbox.
One of the reasons I’m focusing on automation for a month and making myself work in public is to push myself to learn more. I offer that here because this will by no means be a complete toolbox of all automation tools. I’m still relatively new in automation. I also know automation on the Mac and iOS (although will share some tools for my Windows and Android friends). Where I know other tools exist that I don’t use, I’ll mention those. I may also try to expand into some of these tools throughout the series. I hope if you have other tools that I’m missing or know of resources about these tools that you’ll share them in the comments or write your own article and discuss them. Just tag it with AugustOfAutomation.
Let’s take a look at our tools.
Swiss Army Knives of Automation
Most any conversation about automation on the Mac and iOS starts with Shortcuts. Shortcuts is a native apple operating systems app that *can* work across all apple devices. We’ll talk some more about where it doesn’t work across all apple devices in the actual automations we create.
