Three tips for building a support system to meet your learning goal
We’re continuing to navigate through the steps to build a plan for meeting a learning goal. Today we’re talking about building a support system — or even multiple support systems — to meet your learning goal.
Learning can be a solitary activity and can lead to feelings of isolation. From study time, to writing time, to attending class with strangers — you can easily feel like you’re on an island that no one else understands. So, it’s important to build a network of support to meet your learning goal.
Family & Friends. If you are dedicating time and money to a learning project, your family is sacrificing for you to do that. Additionally, friends may even feel the impact of you having less time to spend with them. It’s important to get them on board with your goals and help them understand what you need from them to help you meet this goal as effectively as possible.
Coworking Community. I have found an online coworking community to be one of the most important support systems I have. There are many, many coworking spaces you can join. Here are a few:
- Online tools like Focusmate.com
- Online coworking communities like Creative Work Hour
- Real-life dedicated coworking spaces
- Any local coffee shop where you can concentrate
Study Groups. Some of my best friends from learning experiences are from my personal study groups. Forming study groups can help you meet a learning goal by supporting a learning schedule as well as good learning habits.
How else do you build support for meeting your learning goals?
